For UTIs, the key indicators are leukocytes and nitrites. Leukocytes suggest the body is fighting an infection, and nitrites indicate bacteria are present. Blood can also be a sign of a UTI. The test involves a dipstick that changes color based on the presence of these substances, helping to diagnose a UTI when certain parameters are abnormal.
